“Drawing Comics is one of My Hobbies…”
My full name is Putri Utami and everybody usually calls me Putri. I was born on August, 20th 1987 at Jakarta. I have been living on Jakarta since 1987. Now, I’m twenty years old and I’m a college student at Bandung Institute of Technology majoring Physics. I have many kinds of hobbies, consists of reading books, especially detective’s novels, watching movie, drawing comics, and taking a walk. One of my hobby which has been exercised since I was very young is drawing comics. I would like to share about it because I think it was very exciting. Since I was in elementary school, drawing was the subject lesson that I enjoyed. I was interested to put the line of colors on the drawing book’s. My imagination has been built from it.At the beginning, I’d like to draw scenery, such as mountains with the green trees, or houses with the long ways. But one day, I had been watching cartoon movie on television which titled “Sailormoon”.
I liked to watch her act and her “shape”. That was a new kind of “shape” for me, because “sailormoon” was colorfull and seems like a human creature but she wasn’t human creature and I realized that she was a new subject called “Comic”. Very excited, since that I tried to learn how to draw sailormoon. Everyday, I tried to draw it pattiencely, because drawing it was a new experience for me. I wanted to prove to my parents, my friends, and my teachers that I could draw “comic”. After had parctised day by day, I could draw “sailormoon” on my drawing’s book. The result was almost perfect but not too smooth like the real “sailormoon”. But I was proud with my efforts. I showed it to my parents, my friends, and my teachers and all of them said that I was a great drawer and they praised it. They said that I had talent on painting. I was very happy and since that I still keep practiced to draw comics. Untill one day I decided to make my own “comic”. I tried to make it and wanted to sell it. But, my comic never finished because I was very busy with other lessons and activities so I just done it as a hobby, not for commercial. But one thing that I realized, I never regret that I could draw comics even though I never finished my comic’s project and I thank’s to God who has been giving me this ability.
Now, I’m a Physics College student, I always study everything that relates with number and theory of physics and really have no relation with drawing something. Maybe I realized that I didn’t explore my ability further than sould be, but I think it’s fine because I still can make it as my hobby. So when I got bored, I could put my pen or my pencil and a paper then I can make scecth on it. Of course, not only draw “sailormoon” again because now I can draw other character of comic better than before.
